Something I didn't know about setting levels when recording 24 bit digital audio...

I still believed that I needed to get my input levels as close to clipping as possible, but I now understand why that's less important with 24 bits of heat.

One of the big electronic music mastering secrets I learned was that its good to record everything at a relatively low volume so the audio engineer has a lotta headspace to work with.

The tracks I've had mastered professionally are always better than the ones mastered by Reason... Learning how to manipulate frequencies just right to darken that WAV space takes a lotta time.

Damn double fillet o fish there looks choice.

There is some nice zone there between -30 and -10 db where I try to keep my levels.

My previous post in reinforced by too many unwieldy 'there' words.

Hey Josh, I finally saw Tron. It was better than I thought it was gonna be, and now I really wish I saw it in 3-D at The Theatre.

Instead I poorly chose "Pirates of the Carribean" to bust my 3-D cherry on.

That decision is the reason why the European economy has declined in recent months, and why clipping happens even when your levels are just right.

And Hawaii is the #1 buyer of the Fish Fillet sandwich (per capita, of course).

I don't know why they don't just have the Double Fish Fillet year-round. Maybe McDonald's is overfishing the world's oceans.
