The history of music should have skipped jazz...

...and gone straight to this. Well, not really. I'm diggin jazz in most of its forms more and more each day.

The Bad +

  1. They remind me of a combination of the virtuosity of Brad Meldhau (sp?) and the oddball funkness of Phish, with a touch of Bela Fleck, of course.

I couldn't quite put my finger on where I'd heard that second song before, but then I clicked on the YouTube link and felt like Sherlock.

These guys are good, but I prefer the definitive eras of Miles Davis 68-74 or Coltrane 64-68. Maybe its because I often find myself tuning in with their particular form of madness.

  2. Oh, Coltrane died in 67, but his last few albums sound like they were made by somebody who was already dead. Joy Division-esque, really.
