If you use Paypal...

...beware the ream.

U gonna take it now son.

Unless you opt out: (1) you will only be permitted to pursue claims against PayPal on an individual basis, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class or representative action or proceeding and (2) you will only be permitted to seek relief (including monetary, injunctive, and declaratory relief) on an individual basis.

  1. are you worried they might declare bankruptcy at some point, or is there a more sinister scheme im missing out on?

  2. I guess they're trying to avoid getting raped by large, collective law suits with thousands of plaintiffs.

  3. They're gettin squirelly on us. Ebay has made the same changes to their Terms/Conditions. Basically they don't have to worry about lots of people getting together to legally address a grievance. So they can screw people as long as the screwery stays below the threshold of individual legal action. Ie. an individual wont sue if paypal screws them for 15 bucks. But 5,000 people may sue if paypal screws each of them out of 15 bucks.

  4. I now understand the cockknockery.
